The Value of Learning from Failure: Chat2Order's Experience at the 46th International Kolkata Book Fair

One such experience took place at the 46th International Kolkata Book Fair, where we attempted to conduct a lucky draw for customers by scanning a QR code. Our intention was authentic, but unfortunately, there were frauds and scammers at the book fair who were cheating people. 

We soon realized that our experiment had unintended consequences. There were reports of fraud and scamsters taking advantage of the book fair, using QR codes to cheat people. In fact, several complaints had been filed regarding the increase of fraud cases in the Kolkata International Book Fair (source: Anandabazar Patrika). As a result, we had to make the tough call of not going through with the lucky draw for some publishers and stopping publicity and marketing for others

Although the experience was disappointing, it taught us several valuable lessons. First and foremost, it reminded us that there are dishonest individuals out there who will take advantage of any opportunity. This is a sobering reality, but it's important to be aware of it when conducting any kind of business, particularly at public events.

The experience also reminded us of the importance of flexibility and adaptability. We had to pivot quickly and make difficult decisions in response to the circumstances at the book fair. This required us to be creative and resourceful, and it ultimately strengthened our ability to think on our feet and respond to unexpected challenges.

Finally, the experience taught us the value of collaboration and communication. We worked closely with our partners at the book fair to assess the situation and determine the best course of action. This open dialogue and teamwork helped us make informed decisions and respond quickly to the situation.
